Johan Strydom is an Attorney, Notary and Conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa, practising within the Conveyancing and Commercial departments at Duvenhage & van der Merwe Inc. Since joining the firm in 2020, Johan has built a practice centred on commercial agreements and property transactions, supporting private, corporate, and institutional clients through the full lifecycle of conveyancing and contractual matters.
In the conveyancing department, Johan handles property transfers, bond registrations and cancellations, and servitude matters. His approach is thorough and risk-aware, informed by close attention to title conditions, regulatory requirements, and the practical realities of each transaction.
Within the commercial department, Johan drafts, reviews, and negotiates a wide range of commercial agreements and leases, and advises management and clients on contractual risk and compliance. He supports clients on corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
Johan's earlier experience includes civil litigation and dispute resolution, spanning contractual disputes, debt recovery, and related matters. This background continues to inform his current practice, giving him a practical understanding of how transactions and agreements can go wrong, insight he applies to identifying and mitigating risk before it becomes a dispute.
Outside of practice, Johan is involved in his local church, and enjoys running and hunting in his spare time.
